Bideford Devon: A small town and port lying on the River Torridge estuary in northern Devon, Bideford has a population of around 15,000 and was at one time one of Britain’s largest and busiest ports. Famous for its Long Bridge which was originally constructed in the 13th century, Bideford flourished in medieval times due to the wool trade, although its history goes back to Roman times and beyond.
